The heavy bombers of the bee world, they crater old wood to make space for nesting. In the case of a few species they have become unpopular to homeowners, but they remain very popular with bee enthusiasts.  They have endearing looks and if you're not a piece of old wood, they are as gentle as can be.  A bee so big that even those disconnected to nature will notice.
