My favorite photo subjects – these bees are nothing short of dazzling in appearance.  They are good sports about taking residence in a bee hotel, and provide continued pollination and entertainment as their larger cousins, Osmia lignaria, begin to taper off for the season.  A bee that is finding a home in the world of west coast agriculture.
